Oregon Alpha Initiates 12 New Members Spring Term

Oregon Alpha held a formal initiation ceremony Sunday evening, April 5th. The ritual team was led by EA Jeff Whitman ’10.
The highlight of the ritual was Oregon Alpha alum Steve Rudolph ’79 placing the badge of membership on his son Sam ’12.

Annual Oregon Alpha Awards Banquet held May 18th

Oregon Alpha held its annual Awards Banquet on May 18th.
With a consistent track record and tradition since the early 1970’s, five awards recognizing the accomplishment of the undergraduate members were presented.

Portland Alumni Association Hosts Founder’s Day Banquet
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------


The Portland Alumni Association of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (PAASAE) celebrated the 153rd Anniversary and Founders Day for our great fraternity Friday night March 6th, 2009. Nearly 100 brothers were in attendance at The Stockpot Broiler in Beaverton. Brothers were well represented from Oregon Alpha (OSU), Oregon Beta (UofO) and Oregon Gamma (Willamette).
The keynote speaker was Brooke Knight, head coach of the Corvallis Knights summer baseball team in Corvallis.
More than 20 actives from Oregon Alpha were in attendance.

Eminent Deputy Supreme Archon Marty Wigglesworh opens LS2009 on Carnival Elation


Dick Thompson ’73 and Brice Nesbitt ’05 served on the Leadership School faculty. Brother Joe Walt
(the fraternity’s historian) presented “The Story of SAE”. Nine undergraduates from Oregon Alpha
attended the 74th John O. Moseley Leadership School setting sail last week from San Diego. The
photo above is during a three hour stop-over in Avalon, Catalina Island.

Oregon Alpha’s “New House” 50 Years Old This Fall

The “new house” will be 50 years old this fall term. If you average 20 new members per
year, more than 1,000 brothers have called this house “home” at 2929.

Chapter Eternal

Harlow “Hal” Humphrey passed to Chapter Eternal on March 18, 2009 in Madison, Wisc.
Hal joined SAE on March 18, 1954. Hal was Hal Engelen’s little brother in the fraternity and put up a hard fight against cancer and died at his home.
He flew in the US Air Force and United Air Lines.
